What's in a name?

Our blog fairy is back from sabbatical and ready to tell you a little mood board story:

I think some names get a bad rap – for instance “Ochre”. It really doesn’t stir the imagination – or does it? Ochre is often seen as the plain one, not hanging with the popular colours like Teal or Pink, but just waiting to be recognised for her own worth. Well, Dulux have chosen Ochre as the Colour for 2016!! And this could be why – she is so versatile and earthy. Throw her in with neutrals like grey, black or white and she shines. She tones beautifully with brown or green. She helps others shine – see how classy Teal, Turquoise or Sky Blue and even Orange look when she’s with them. When you pair her with Purple, she takes on a golden glow. Maybe we should have called her Honey and she would have been hanging with the popular colours, but she remains down to earth and natural.

Here is an example of Ochre with Beige (yet another bleh name) and yet they team well in a monochromatic layout and make the photo the feature.

Colour Inspiration - Autumn Days

As we say farewell to Autumn, this weeks inspiration is provided by the Flower Pack - Autumn Days:

Lovely rich autumn tones tied together with dark chocolate satin edged organza, olive double sided satin, jute lattice, burgundy double sided satin and peach satin edge organza.

Colour Inspiration - Antique

Our Antique mixed colour petal pack is lovely and feminine. The four colours in this pack are purple, plum, lavender and blackberry.

We have shown them here with apple blossoms in lavender, plum and plum and white. The ribbons shown are plum pleated organza, violet striped satin, lavender lace and chocolate cobweb.

Colour Inspiration - Meadow

Greens go with anything and the Meadow combination of our mixed colour petal pack will go with any of our flowers:

Meadow contains lime green, batik green, green and xmas green. The matching ribbons are lime satin edged organza, olive double sided satin, olive cobweb and xmas green double sided satin.

Colour Inspiration - Blossom

A little bit of pretty colour inspiration on a cold winters day in the form of our mixed colour petal pack - Blossom:

The pretty pinks in this pack are pale pink, pink, dusky pink and hot pink and are shown here with double sided satin ribbons in pale pink, pink, rose and cerise. We have coordinated them with pale pink heirlooms, two tone pink cherry blossoms and hot pink primula.

Colour Inspiration - Ocean

Another blue pack, this time with ocean tones of Turquoise, Liquid, Sky Blue and Baby Blue:

The matching ribbons here are Turqoise Satin, Blue Opal sequin, Sky Blue satin, Sky Blue leaf ribbon andPale Blue pleated organza and a sprinkling of small flowers in turquoise and blue.

Colour Inspiration - Sunset

The Sunset mixed colour petal pack contains 25 each of Salmon, Gold, Orange and Rust:

The colours in this pack go nicely with peach heirlooms, burnt orange rosette and coral sakura. The ribbons shown here are peach satin edged organza, gold sequin satin, tangerine satin and sienna satin edged organza.

Colour Inspiration - Forest

Our new mixed colour petal packs provide you with four coordinated colours. This weeks inspiration is forest greens:

The forest pack contains mint, clay, sage and green and are shown here with pale green primula, olive and sage satin rosettes and green roses. The ribbons here are green and white gingham ruffle ribbon, satin stripe ribbon in sage and gunmetal, olive rattail and green self adhesive leaf ribbon.

Colour Inspiration - Orient

This weeks colour inspiration is all about the orient and in the mixed colour flower pack of the same name the colours are fire engine red, white, black and red.

We teamed the petals with our red mesh ribbon, white crinkle satin edge organza, black satin, red cobweb ribbon. Our petals corodinate well with our apple blossoms, cherry blossoms and small flowers.

Colour Inspiration - Vintage

These soft vintage tones are from one of our new mixed colour packs and coordinate beautifully with our lace and satin ribbons:

The colours in this pack are: Aubergine, Dusky Mauve, Ivory and Taupe. They are shown here with our ivory pearl flowers. The coordinating ribbons are aubergine, mauve and cream lace and baby pink satin.

Colour Inspiration - Rain

New mixed colour packs of our 7cm petals have been added to our inventory. Each pack contains 25 each of 4 coordinating colours. We will be sharing them as part of our colour inspiration posts, with this weeks being Rain (as it is raining here today). 

The colours in this pack are: Wedgwood, Midnight, Silver Grey and Grey Blue. They are shown here with our blue apple blossoms, blue cherry blossoms, two tone blue cherry blossoms. The coordinating ribbons are blue grey satin, midnight satin, silver grey jute and gunmetal striped satin.

Colour Inspiration - Hot Stuff

As we tip over into the winter months, we thought we would warm things up a bit with these bright hot colours. We've teamed double sided satin in Tangerine, Cerise and Turquoise with sequined satin in coordinating colours and finished off with Batik Multi paper flowers.

Colour Inspiration - Peacock

A peacock feather seems to have so many colours to it, that finding simple colour inspiration in it can sometimes prove difficult. We narrowed it down to these six in our double sided satin ribbons: Midnight Blue, Royal Blue, Sky Blue, Turquoise, Olive, Xmas Green.
