'Little Mama', Altered Box & Altered Mirror
By Natasha Naranjo Aguirre

'Little Mama'

Hi everyone!  My name is Natasha and I have a few projects to share with you today!  The first is a layout I made using a photo of my daughter when she was two years old.  That seems like ages ago!

Look at these lovely Green Tara flowers!  The large flower is a Damask fabric & organza flower.

The adorable blue flower is a 4cm Heirloom.  I like this smaller size!

For the title I used alpha stickers and chipboard letters and adhered them to a die cut banner.

These are lovely gardenias and roses.
You can see a piece of cut lace peeking out from behind the flowers.

To create this circle border, I hand-stitched the lace to the edge of the
cut circle and then snipped in between each section of the lace.

Altered Box

I altered a plain wooden box purchased from my local craft store
and this is the end result.

I randomly adhered pieces of tissue tape to the gesso-covered box
and applied this flaky medium to certain areas.
I then used ink sprays to add color.

The sides and the back of the box are decorated with Green Tara lace.

Look at these gorgeous Green Tara flowers!  I love how well they combine!
I used a mixture of Gardenias, Roses and Apple Blossoms.
I also added cut pieces of gorgeous lace and an
acrylic/pearl spray also by Green Tara.

Different types of chipboard elements by The Dusty Attic
were used to decorate the box as well.

Altered Mirror

I had way too much fun altering this mirror!!
(I covered the mirrored section with vellum so that my reflection didn't end up in the photo.)
This wooden mirror is an inexpensive mirror from IKEA.
It is perfect for altering because it has a wide, unfinished surface.

This gorgeous texture was created by using Green Tara's cobweb ribbon!
I adhered the ribbon to the mirror and applied gesso.
Then I applied ceramic stucco to the entire surface.

I proceeded by gently squishing cut pieces of lace into the stucco.
Then I colored my project with several different sprays.
I adore how it turned out!

To finish off the mirror, I decorated with a Camellia flower,
 Gardenias, Cherry Blossoms and Roses.

I even added touches of Jute ribbon.
This ribbon makes such a lovely bow!

And of course I couldn't forget my chipboard!
I am a dimensional crafter so chipboard is one of my favorite products!

  3. Absolutely EXQUISITE. Adore everything here. Your attention to detail is fabulous. So many beautiful things. Love your layers, textures & expecially your flower clusters. My favourite would have to be how you have squished the "Cobweb mesh" into that stucco paste in the last project. That really looks amazing. I'll definitely be giving that a try. FANTASTIC post Natasha. Love it all.
