Flowers, Trims and Washi Tape by Maria Featon

" The Happiest Of Days "

Hello all! Today in my first blog post for Green Tara this year I have three
layouts to share with you. I've made it a tradition to photograph my family
together every New Year's Day so it was lovely to have some new photos
to work with. My kids have grown so much in the last twelve months!

I wanted a summery feel to suit my photos on this layout
so chose a white "Azalea", ivory "Apple Blossom"
  (re-coloured with a Distress Marker), and a peach/cream
"Cherry Blossom". The feathers were created with
"Green Tara washi tape". See the bonus tutorial at the end of my post.

A layout without some sort of ribbon or trim just doesn't seem
finished to me. On this one I've used ivory "Burlap Ribbon",
white "Raffia" and some white "Polka Dot Organza" ribbon
I've pleated on my sewing machine.

......................................................................

"Mama Loves You"

With this layout I was inspired by the colours and bohemian style
print in my daughter Holly's dress. The "Batik Vintage Petals"
were cut in half and sewn into the border all around the page.

I've used a gorgeous "Poppy" in dusky pink as the focal point of
my cluster, teamed with a pink and white "Azalea", ivory "Apple
Blossom" and some ivory "Mini Rosebuds".

The layers of "Lace Ribbon" below the photo were
adhered to the page with Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium.

The "Metal Embellishment Heart" in silver didn't suit the warm tones
of my layout so I re-coloured it with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain.

......................................................................

"Sielunsisko (Soul Sisters)"

My third layout is one I recently shared as my entry for the December 2013
Scrap Around The World mood board challenge. I just love mixed media
and it was fun to use some of those techniques on this page. I've adhered
"Lace Ribbon" with Multi Medium and staples to the top and bottom of
the page to echo the lace design on the paper. I added dabs of gesso to the
lace and flowers to suit the mixed media theme.

This time I went for a colour combination I wouldn't normally use.
It's good to try things outside of your comfort zone now and again.
The turquoise "Camellia" and lavender "Damask" flower just
looked right together. I've popped in an ivory "Apple Blossom"
(re-coloured with a Distress Marker) and a white "Floral Spray"
which I have cut up and used in pieces.

*BONUS TUTORIAL*
Green Tara Washi Tape Feathers

Step 1: Stick two lengths of washi tape together with a piece
of beading wire in the centre, between the two layers.

Step 2: Add more layers of tape on either side (front and back)
until it's as wide as you want your feather to be.

Step 3: Trim the tape strip into a shape resembling a feather.

Step 4: Make a series of little cuts all along either side of the
feather, stopping just before the wire. Trim a bit more until
you are happy with the shape. VoilĂ ! You have a funky feather!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Green Tara blog
today to check out my post. See you next month!

Just a Little Fantasy
by Jan Rankine

"Believe"

Hello everyone, Jan here again  - I can't "believe" it's already 2014, last year went far too quickly.
This layout was inspired by my love of fussy cutting and paper tole.

Here I've used the pretty lavender  "Azaleas", along with a "Primula" and "Cherry Blossoms" and "Roses".  I've also tucked in some of the new "Stamens", and a"Rainforest Butterfly".
The ribbon is lavender "Bud-n-Bow".

My favourite little "Roses" and green "Velvet Leaves"  along with the new natural "Raffia".

This flower and the butterfly I fussy cut.  If you look closely in the top left
hand corner you will seeI have used some beautiful gold
"Fairy Mesh' Ribbon on my fairy's wings.

"You Leave Footprints on my Heart"

I used soft gelato colours on this page to get a nice summery feel.

"Gardenias", "Primulas" and "Roses" make up this cluster.
I separated a pink Primula and  tucked some of it in this cluster.

The same flowers are in this cluster, with the other half of the pink Primula.
Of course it wouldn't be a Green Tara page without "Velvet Leaves".

 "Cherish the Moments"

This layout was  my entry in the "White With 1" Challenge for November.
The photos are of my grandson and his girlfriend at their Year 12 Formal.

Please visit our facebook page to see what's happening at Green Tara.

Thank you so much for dropping by.  I hope I have inspired you just a little.

January Inspiration
Three Layouts to Share
By Di Garling

"Cherish the Moments"

Hi there, Di Garling back with you again today with three layouts to share.
I must say I am drawn to bright colours, they make me feel happy & it
doesn't get much brighter than this.

Here you can see I have used a lime "Sakura" flower, a yellow "Heirloom" flower,
an orange "Lace Pearl" flower which I sprayed with some mist to get just the right
shade, it actually started its life as ivory but coloured up really well.
I have also sprayed a white "Flower Spray" in orange as well.

I have also used three different Green Tara "Washi Tapes"
underneath my photos. Green Tara has a huge range of Washi
to choose from.

Another yellow "Heirloom" flower teamed with a couple of
Green Tara "Roses" which were ivory & again I misted them lime & orange.

Here I have tied a knot using their lime "Mesh Trim"
& simply tucked it in amongst the flowers.

All of my chipboard on this layout are from 2 Crafty Chipboard.

"Sweet"

I did this layout last year but was never completely happy with it, sooooo
I decided to pull it apart and make it over again.
I have added lots of different Green Tara "Lace" in between the paper layers.
I then sprayed them all turquoise to match my background.

I have tied a bow using some of the new
"Double Sided Vertical Satin Stripe Ribbon".

Pink, white  & blue "Heirloom" flowers teamed with some
turquoise "Mini Rosebuds".

Some more of our favourite Green Tara "Roses" in pink & turquoise.

"Merry & Bright"

You may have seen this layout already. I had created it in December as part of
my design team work for 2 Crafty chipboard.
I did lots of background treatments in cream & gold & then proceeded to
add some Green Tara blooms to compliment the gold.

The main flower here is a silk & organza "Wild Rose"
teamed with a couple of  ivory "Heirloom" flowers.

This is such a statement flower, don't you agree ?

Another ivory "Heirloom" flower & I have painted a couple of
3cm ivory "Roses" in gold.  I thought they turned out pretty good.
See, you can create any colour flower you need.

Well that wraps up another month for me, I will see you back
here again next month.
