Grouping Colour with Susan Longman

Very excited to be joining you for my very first post on the Green Tara team…
to be quite honest the goodies I received where so amazing I had no idea where
to start so I colour grouped them to give me some perspective on the gorgeous items
I had to work with. I love working with a white base and adding a colour as the focus…
so here are my layouts I have created this month.

“Wonders”
 layout by Susan Longman

For this layout I have focused on some of the gorgeous purples available in the
Green Tara range… I have added a touch of mauve to the edges of the
white gardenias to tie it all in.

The fabulous Polka Dot Organza Ribbon is tied in a large bow to add interest to
the page and tie the main focus in with the mini cluster up top.

I absolutely fell in love with the amazing *NEW* Double Sided Vertical Stripe Satin ribbon
and just had to include the turquoise on my layout.

The Green Tara Mini Roses are my go to flower when creating clusters on a page …
little flowers mixed in amongst larger ones makes the embellishing look more at ease
on the page …. try layering your flowers under your papers too.

Gold is so “ON TREND” right now that when I saw the luscious gold goodies
in my parcel I just had to give a gold layout a go…

I have used the white cherry blossoms and tip painted them in gold to tie in with
the other gorgeous gold toned blooms.

3 Layouts to share!

Hello!

You are with Sandrine today! I would like to share my first 3 layouts for Green Tara!
I will start with a girlie layout.

"Darling Daughter"

In this first layout I used loads of different flowers, "8 cm Lavender Damask flower", "8 cm Lavender Velvet Rose", "Violet Cherry Blossoms" and "White Flower Spray", "White Pearl Lace Flower: and "2.5cm Metal Heart" all with a coat of Gesso.

Some "Opal Velvet Glitter Ribbon" behind the photo and another "Damask Flower".

I added some details to the edge using torn "White Mesh".

More "Glitter Ribbon", a "Cherry Blossom" and "Skeletal Mesh".

Here is my second project:

"Family Snap"

A close up of the flower cluster: All my flowers were covered with some Gesso, "3.5cm Lace Pearl", "8cm Damask Flower", "6.5cm Heirloom Silk and Organza Flowers", "1.5cm roses" all in Ivory:

Here I used some ribbon: a little tip on how to adhere sheer organza ribbon discreetly, I first used double sided tape where I knew it was going to be covered and attached the edges with a couple of stitches, I used
"Ivory Satin Hearts Ribbon" and "Vertical Stripe Satin Ribbon".

A "1.5cm rose".

- ORGANZA SATIN  HEARTS RIBBON IVORY RB255Iv

My third project was created for Scrapping Outback's November Xmas Challenge:

"Merry Christmas 2012"

I went for a neutral colour combo,  I used some "Skeleton Ribbon" at the bottom of my photo matting
(it is one of my favourite Green Tara products!!!!).

I made my own "wreath" photo frame by wrapping gorgeous "Jute Ribbon" around a wire circle, I simply stitched it together at the end:

Also more gold in the cluster at the top using "Natural Jute Ribbon" & "Gold Leaf Garland":

I altered a "Silver Leaf" with gesso and distress stickles and wrapped it around my photo frame, added a gorgeous gold leaf garland and some "Skeleton Mesh in gold":

A wooden reel with some "Gold mesh", another little tip, try using ribbon and trims in a different manner every time you use them.

My First Layouts for Green Tara

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be here! I have three layouts to share with you today.

"Bathing Beauty"

I just love this photo of my mother Vilma in her youth. The camellia was one of her
favourite flowers so I thought it was fitting to use one for the focal point of my
floral cluster on this layout. This camellia was ivory to begin with. I changed the
colour with my own custom blend of mist.

The mesh ribbon has just the right amount of body to create the perfect bow.

The mulberry paper flowers are so easy to colour.
I've used a Distress Marker to add some colour to the apple blossom
on the right, then I misted it with a little
water to make the colour spread and soften.

I am crazy about Green Tara lace! I just love the texture it adds
to a project. When I'm aiming for a shabby chic look, I like to
glue lace to my layout with Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium,
then I brush a bit of gesso over the top.

Azalea 5cm in pink/ivory and cream - CODE: FLA100

Lace 18mm ivory - CODE: RB6810C

"Love..."

On this layout I've actually re-scrapped a photo from a few years ago. My tastes
have changed quite a bit since then and I wanted to put a new spin on it.

The lace pearl and tutu flowers have such a fun, whimsical feel! They made
me think of my sweet little girl and were therefore perfect for this page.

For variety I added some mini roses and a cut up
flower spray I recoloured with a Distress Marker.

For texture and dimension I've used Green Tara lace,
skeleton mesh, burlap ribbon and natural jute ribbon.
I really like the natural tones of these trims so I
left them that way.

Lace pearl flowers pink and ivory - CODE: XF9332DP, XF9332PP, XF9332IV

"A Mother's Love"

Scrapbooking is such a therapeutic hobby. I lost my beautiful mum last year
and now I find so much comfort in scrapping photos of her. I love this picture
from my wedding day. This layout is actually a class I'm teaching at the moment.

The floral cluster includes heirloom flowers,
roses and a white flower spray that I cut up.
I coloured the roses with mist.

Here I have wrapped the ribbon and lace around the page,
then attached a separate bow afterwards. The bow was created
with a bow maker tool and stitched to the page with a needle
and thread. I find it sits really well that way.
